We’re back!

May 5, 2008

Christ it’s been a while since I wrote anything here, frankly I forgot it even existed until I came on my PC today for a change. I spend most of my time using the laptop but not today, fancied a change and found this place set to my Firefox homepage, not bad.

Anyway, I’ve not been so busy since my last post, ESWC UK 2005/6 not sure which, but either way it was a while ago. I no longer work for Amped Esports, infact it no longer exists, the management decided to take the site in a different direction under a different name and it can now be found at www.gameriot.com. For those of you who care about my work in esports, I can tell you that I have not left it behind, I just don’t work as much as I used to now and for smaller organizations.

At the moment I am debating whether to work for 4Kings, the UK’s first professional gaming team and only of only a handful worldwide to have been competing since the inception of esports over ten years ago! On top of this, Fnatic are supposed to be “watching me” and waiting for a new budget but that is just word of mouth and I am yet to hear anything from Fnatic themselves.

For the time being I work for Inside Source alongside the likes of “Gonzo” who worked on the CGS UK broadcasts and recieved an esports award for the article of the year amongst other things.

Because my monitor is so shit and I can’t read a thing on here I’m going to fuck this off and finish later. Peace out!

It’s been a while!

June 26, 2007

It’s been a while since I’ve wrote anything here and it’s probably time I got something online. So this is it! As you can see in the post below this one, I have began working for a new website called Amped Esports; and it is there fault (to a certain degree) that I’ve not wrote anything for a while.

A few weeks ago I was shipped out to London on behalf of Amped Esports to provide the world with coverage from the Electronic Sports World Cup UK Qualifiers – what the hell are those you ask? The ESWC is described as the “greatest sporting project in the 21st century” and centres around the professional gaming industry. The ESWC is ran by a French team and provides competitive video gamers from all around the world with a platform to showcase their talent and earn hundreds of thousands of pounds. The organizers hold qualifiers in over 50 countries in order to determine the individuals who will attend the grand finals in Paris and compete for a share of approximately 170,000 US dollars – not a bad prize for playing a game eh?

Anyway, I was down in London covering the UK Qualifiers which meant I was away for a weekend and busy writing pre-coverage, coverage and then post event articles, leaving me with very little determination to write something on my blog.

The majority of the rest of my time has been consumed by World of Warcraft, WoW as some of you might know it. I managed to level my druid from level 60 to level 64, respec to feral instead of resto… that’s enough of that, few of you will understand anyway!

So basically, my blog has been left idle thanks to a busy work schedule with Amped Esports and a re-energize addiction to World of Warcraft. However, I’ll try get some more stuff wrote up during the coming weeks. For now, I’ll hit the kitchen and do what I do best; eat!

Another Party, Another Kandel Movie!

May 8, 2007

So it was Bank Holiday Monday this week, meaning we all got an extra day off work, college etc. As usual we decided to get drunk, have a smoke and hurl the usual banter at each other. Friday night wasn’t massively different to any other Friday night; we had plenty of drink, plenty of smoke and as usual, Kandel fell asleep first.

I think this is the third week in a row that he’s fell asleep first and he still hasn’t got the message that it’s a bad idea. The YouTube video below shows what did to him to try get the message through:

Maybe now he will start to keep himself awake just that little bit longer. He even says he hates going to sleep first because he misses out on things…. O’RLY?

My name a Kandel

April 22, 2007

Over easter I spent rather a lot of time up the woods with “the gang” doing various things. As you can see in this video, we weren’t exactly sober. The video shows Mr Kandel hosting an episode of “Kazakhstani TV News” in the middle of the local woodlands, go Joe!

300, Grease and Harry Potter 4.

April 11, 2007

How many movies can I guy watch in one day? Well I managed three and had had enough. It was Saturday night/Sunday morning when I began this movie marathon. We were all “dossing out” at a friends as his parents had gone away over easter and we decided we’d all sit and watch 300 once our BBQ’s had burnt out and we couldn’t take anymore half cooked meat.

So 300 it was. Although I wouldn’t say this movie was bad I would say I was disappointed by it. The past week or so I’ve been wanting to watch this movie and couldn’t get hold of a DVD off anyone until Saturday. The movies story is too plain and simple for my liking, I can probably explain it in one short sentence.

“300 Spartans go to war against something like 100,000 Persians and don’t even win.”

Besides the somewhat simple story and the pretty unbelievable creatures that attack these 300 Spartans, the movie is rather good. It’s almost action scene for the entire movie, besides the small sections required to explain parts of the story.

Next up was Grease. By this time we were all rather drunk and some muppet decided to put Grease – yes it’s a musical – on the TV. I hate Grease, regardless of what people say I just hate Grease and I don’t really know why. I turned this off about half way through and then we all just got drunk.

Come 1 o’clock in the morning there was only two of us left. Some people had gone home, some had gone upstairs for various reasons (;)) so we watched Harry Potter 4. That took us through to 5am-ish. A few shots of whiskey later and I was asleep!

What are we watching next week people?
